Maine Conference for Jewish Life
The Maine Conference for Jewish Life is a pluralistic opportunity for superior Jewish learning and joyous celebration in central Maine.
Fall Shabbaton
The Fall Shabbaton is an annual event that brings together the Maine Jewish community and friends from farther afield for a weekend of Torah study, soulful music, Shabbat meals, and invigorating connection.
Funtensive
The Center’s Summer Funtensive provides a camp experience to children who cannot afford or easily travel to traditional Jewish camps. Based at Temple Beth El in Augusta for the past few years, the Funtensive attracts students from Waterville, Augusta, Bath, Lewiston, Portland, the midcoast, and beyond. Jewish teens and college students have worked with local rabbis to provide fun and educational Jewish experiences. Campers leave the program with a sizable modern Hebrew vocabulary and other skills that can only be conveyed in an intensive, immersive Jewish experience.
Jewish Youth Connection
It can be a little lonely as a Jewish teen in Maine—so the Center for Small Town Jewish Life is excited to offer the Maine Jewish Youth Connection, bringing together YA Jews from across the state for learning, togetherness, and FUN. Join us for creative programs of all kinds, and for friendship and learning.

Shlichei Tzibur Training Program
The Center for Small Town Jewish Life’s Shlichei Tzibur Prayer Leader Training Program is designed to educate and empower lay congregants to lead prayer at various levels in their communities and to support their spiritual formation. Through this cohort-based program, we aim to support communities that seek to embrace lay leadership. Now in its fifth year, we welcome lay leaders from communities nationwide.
