What comes to mind when you hear the word “God?” The source of all life? A white-bearded tyrant in the sky? Mathematical expressions of infinity? A loving being who knows and cares for each of us personally? In this class, we will use the writings of modern and contemporary Jewish thinkers to explore the ways in which lived experience affects a person’s ideas of God and the meaning those ideas convey.
Wednesdays: March 4, 11, 18, 25; 6-7 p.m.
Faculty: Melanie Weiss and Liz Soloway Snider
Can you decode Hebrew—figure out the correct sounds based on letters and vowels—but long to know more about what the words mean? This class builds on the curriculum of our Intro to Hebrew class (though that class is not a prerequisite). In each of the four sessions, we’ll slowly introduce new vocabulary to give you a taste of the joys of Hebrew.
